This is a very easy skateboard trick for beginners, it doesn't involve popping or flipping or any kind of turning. To start learning this skateboard trick find yourself a nice mellow quarter pipe or small bank and put your tail on the copping or the edge at the top where it goes from a transition to the flat part, make sure your wheels are on the transition at this point. Have one foot on your board and one foot beside your tail on the flat. When you are ready to drop in place your front foot, the foot that is not yet on your board, on your skateboard where the front truck bolts are and make sure you have all your weight on your back foot. You now are in the position to drop in.
You now want to shift your weight from your back foot to your front and as you do this make sure you let your body lean forward and not backwards. Keep your knees slightly bend and slam your front foot down to the transition, by this time you should have about 70 percent of your weight on the front of your skateboard. Get the feel for the transition and ride it out and stay balanced. As you get to the bottom shift your weight back to your normal riding stance and ride away.
This can be a very easy skateboard trick if you want it to, but you have to be confident and don't be scared of falling, wear proper protective gear if this gives you the confidence. The biggest flaw I see when people are trying to drop in is that they get their skateboard half way down to the transition, get scared and lean back. Do not do this, when you do it make sure you commit 100%, be positive, if think you can do it you will do it.
Happy Skateboarding
