This is a great trick to for beginners to learn, its easy to bail from and its an easy skateboard trick to learn without riding really fast, in fact you could even start trying it stationary if you feel more comfortable that way. A pop shuvit is when you're board spins 180 degrees and you don't, except the technique has really nothing to do with a BS 180. Here's the Easy Skateboard Tricks step by step guide to learning the BS Pop Shuvit.
Step 1. Start in the ollie position but place your upper foot a couple inches lower than you normally would, this will help to spin the board around firmly.
Step 2. As you pop the board swing your back foot behind you, make sure you do this in one motion when you pop, don't do it to early or you won't get height on the trick and don't do it too late or you won't have enough time to get the full rotation in.
Step 3. Once your in the air, make sure to keep your shoulders square with the skateboard and keep it under you. The best way to do this is by giving it a firm pop and getting the correct timing between the pop and the swoop back of your popping foot.
Step 4. Keep control of your skateboard in the air with your front foot, use it as a guide to catch your board in the air at the right time and not to let it over spin.
Step 5. Let your legs be floaty in the air, don't be a stiff robot, then bring your back foot back onto the skateboard when it comes around.
Step 6. Hit the ground and absorb the impact. Ride away clean.
Happy Skateboarding!
