Most of the time when you buy a skateboard from somewhere they put the grip tape on for you to make process between buying and skating easier. In some cases you may get a skateboard and a piece of grip tape or you may just need to re-grip it that's why I have made this tutorial for you to learn how to Grip your own board...
Step 1. There's two things you'll need to grip your board 1) an Exacto knife 2) a screw driver or some sort of long round metal object.
Step 2. Put your skateboard graphic down and remove the back of the grip tape off so now your left with a sticky side and a grippy side.
Step 3. Place the sticky side down gently on either side of the board, one end on the nose one end on the tail, and make sure that there is excess of grip tape coming from all around the skateboard.
Step 4. Now you have to press the grip tape VERY LIGHTLY onto the board and make sure there are no air pockets. One method to make sure this happens is to run a skateboard wheel along the board.
Step 5. Take your screw driver or metal object and scrape the shape of the board on the top part so your left with this nice white shape of a skateboard.
Step 6. Grab your Exacto Knife and carve the shape you just made to reveal the actual shape. I usually make four slits by each of the concave on the board and meet each other slit as I cut around it.
Step 7. The last step is to poke eight hardware holes, you can do this with the actual hardware if you want, and one thing I like to do after I freshly grip a skateboard is to take the extra grip tape and sand down the surface so it isn't too grippy and won't tear my shoes up... but don't overdo this!
Happy Skateboarding!
