A kickflip can be a wonderful skateboard trick when done properly it can also look as ugly as roadkill. The point of the kickflip is to make your board do a complete rotation like a barrel roll. It can be a very frustrating trick at times so go easy on yourself and take it one step at a time, this trick took me the longest of all skateboard tricks to learn.
Step 1. Step on to your skateboard like your going to do an ollie and now take your front foot and angle it so that your heel is behind your toes, it should be somewhere between a 45 and 70 degree angle. This stance will vary once you start trying the trick until you find where your comfortable.
Step 2. Start to pop your skateboard just like you would for an ollie but as your sliding your top foot up your going to want to flick it right off the top of the board, try to make this point just above the concave on the nose of the skateboard. This will cause your board to spin in the kickflip direction.
Step 3. Your going to want to practice step 2 over and over with no intentions of landing it, yes I know kind of a negative thing to say when learning a skateboard trick but you have to be comfortable with spinning the board the right way before you start trying to land it.
Step 4. After you have the spin down its time to start trying to stay on top of the skateboard and land it. The biggest flaw I see when people are try to learn to kickflip is that they open up there shoulders and just try to land it with one foot, this IS NOT the right way to go about learning this trick. You should be focusing on keeping your shoulders straight and sucking up your knees towards your body even if this means landing the board on the back. Landing on the back of your skateboard with two feet is a lot closer than landing it one foot on the grip tape, trust me on this one I had to learn that the hard way.
tip. Try to make a solid effort to kick your foot off of or close to the nose of the skateboard this will give you good pop and won't cause you problems in the future. The last thing you want to be doing is kicking down on your board to make it spin, this is called mobing your kickflip and is generally frowned upon in skateboarding.
Step 5. Now its just a matter of time before you are landing on the board. Make sure to keep your knees sucked up close to your body in the air and use your back foot to guide your board and catch it in the air before it over rotates. The Perfect landing of the kickflip and usually any other skateboard trick is with both feet over the truck bolts.
Step 6. Once you've caught the skateboard in the air level it out and absorb the impact just like you would on your Ollie. The Perfect landing of the kickflip, and usually any other skateboard trick, is with both feet over the truck bolts.
Step 7. Ride away clean and go do another 500!
Happy Skateboarding!

This kickflip is marvelous. It´s almost 10 years back when I did my last kickflip, but I never did it from this height.
