Easy Skateboard Tricks - 360 Flip

The 360 flip, also known as tre flip and 3 flip, can be very frustrating skateboard trick. People struggle with it for years, but lucky for you guys I have gone through these struggles, learned how to perfect them and will now share the strategies and secrets of how to do them with you. First of all you should be able to do Varial flips, they don't need to be the best of the best because there are a lot of different techniques between the two skateboard tricks, but Knowing how to do them will make you feel more comfortable and confident with learning 360 flips.

Step 1. Your foot positioning is crucial to master this trick. The standard position (this is a general outline and may change from person to person) should have your back foot in the pocket (concave) of the frontside edge of your skateboard. Your front foot should be on about a 45 degree angle about half way up your board with your heel hanging off the backside edge.

Step 2. Start to ride at a slow but reasonable pace, I wouldn't suggest trying to learn this trick standing still because it's a lot harder to get the scoop of your back foot if your not moving.

Step 3. As you pop you want to really focus on the scoop of your back foot and swing it behind you fast, also most of the weight on your back foot should be in your toes.

Tip. One thing I see people do incorrectly when trying this skateboard trick is they rely too much on their front foot for getting the flip, this is where they differ hugely from varial flips. The Key to 3 flip is in your back foot and finding the right placement of it so that it will flip without you front foot having to kick it way out like a kickflip. That's why it's so crucial to find the right placement of your feet! With that being said your front foot still plays a part, it just doesn't play a big part of the actual flip and rotation, that doesn't mean it does nothing for it, its just not even close to as important as your back foot.

Step 4. After you've popped the skateboard leave your front foot out to guide it around and catch it so it doesn't over rotate. Make sure you keep your upper body square with the skateboard because it's very easy to get thrown off when both your feet are doing different things.

Step 5. Staying on top of the skateboard is the hardest part to this trick and my suggestion is to focus on that, stay on top of the board and remember that its closer to land on the back of the skateboard with two feet than to land on the top three feet away from your body with one foot.

Step 6. As you land on your board be prepared for it, this skateboard trick is notorious for slipping out backwards, so make sure you have your knees bent and your weight evenly distributed between both legs.

Step 7. Stomp it on the truck bolts and roll away clean.

Easy Skateboard Tricks - Varial Flip

The Varial Flip is a combination between a Kickflip and a BS Pop Shuvit, make sure that you can do both of these skateboard tricks otherwise you'll have a hard time learning this. The object is to get the board to do a 180 and flip at the same time and your body stays in the same place. Varial Flips can be a frustrating skateboard trick at first, don't get discouraged, practice them often and don't forget to master your kickflips and BS Pop Shuvits too.

Step 1. Set your feet up like you're going to do a kickflip but point your front foot towards the nose of the skateboard so that its at about a 45 degree angle.

Step 2. Start to pop your board and as you do your back foot is going to swing back behind you. Make sure to practice and get the timing of this down, its just like a BS Pop Shuvit (thats why its key that you can do these before learning Varial Flips).

Step 3. Your front foot is going to slide up the board and kick off the nose, particularly where the concave meets the nose of your skateboard.

Tip. Its also crucial to get the timing right between both feet to optimize the height and spin of the skateboard trick, just remember this when your trying it and know that it's just trial and error to get the timing perfect.

Step 4. Keep your shoulders square with the board, its very important that you don't let your body follow either of your legs, let them do their thing and let your upper body do its thing.

Step 5. Make sure to jump high and us your front foot to guide your skateboard around.

Step 6. Aim for the truck bolts when landing on your board, bend your knees to absorb the impact, find your balance and ride away clean.

Easy Skateboard Tricks - Frontside Pop Shuvit

A Frontside Pop Shuvit is the opposite of a Backside Pop Shuvit, its when the board does a backside 180 degree turn but your body stays in the same position. The key to this trick is your back foot and shifting your weight at the right times.

Step 1. First off get into the ollie position, now your going to want to move your back foot closer to the concave(groove) on the backside edge of your skateboard, angle it slightly so that your toe is pointing away from the skateboard. Your front foot should be moved out a bit so that your toes are hanging off the board a bit more than usual. This positioning is just an outline, start with this and alter it to where it works the best for you.

Step 2. As you start to pop the skateboard shift your weight back a bit and kick your back foot out in front of you, make sure to give it a crisp pop, this will help the board stay under you and not swing out behind you.

Step 3. When the board starts to get to about the half way point of the rotation shift your weight back to normal and guide it around with your front foot. This is the only thing your front foot is good for in this skateboard trick, dont get distracted and think that it can help you spin it around, frontside shuvits are all in your back foot!

Step 4. As it comes to the full 180 degree turn stomp your two feet back on, bend your knees to absorb the impact and balance out your weight.

Step 5. Ride away clean and do another 500.
